Getting there: Savary Island is a few miles offshore from Lund which is at the 'end of the road from Powell River'. There is a water taxi
service from Lund to Savary Island, about a 15 minute trip. The cabin is located mid-island, approximately 5 km west from the wharf
where the water taxi arrives. When you book the water taxi, also book the land taxi - they will drop you at the cabin.
Cabin GPS co-ordinates are 49 56.336 N, 124 50.632 W, locate Savary with Google
Water : The cabin has a well water system. The main cabin has a hot water shower, bathroom sink, and kitchen sink. There
is an 'outhouse' toilet..
Electricity: There is no electricity supplied to the island, part of the charm of Savary. The main cabin has power for lighting and for the
stereo, charging cell phones, etc. Generally running the generator 45-60 minutes a day keeps the batteries charged so you have night
time lighting. There are as well flashlights and candles.
Kitchen: the main cabin has a propane fridge, a seperate propane freezer, and a three-burner propane stove; there is also a barbeque on
the deck.
The cabins: The main cabin is situated on a high bank overlooking the ocean with a deck running out to the edge, spectacular view.
There is a loft bedroom with a queen sized bed, a downstairs bedroom with a queen size bed. There is a fireplace for heating(or
atmosphere) and a cd stereo player. The sleeping cabin is close by in the woods, nice and quiet and basic with a queen size futon sofa bed.
Things to do: There are numerous beaches within 5-10 minutes walking. If you want a hot sunny tanning beach or for beachcombing,
head to the trail just 5 minutes away on the south side of the island. If you want to get clams and oysters and a swim, then take a 10
minute walk down towards the Mermaid Rock beach area. If you have a boat, there are lots of crabs and prawns to be had as well.
Remember you do need a license(inexpensive) even for shellfish.
Important reminders: There is no garbage service on the island, so you need to take any garbage off with you. There is a bottle depot
that you can drop the usual types of containers at- 5 min walk from the cabin. There is a fire truck on the island - please help ensure it
remains parked and unused for the summer. Savary can get very dry so generally outdoor fires are not advisable and often prohibited in
summer.
What to bring: The cabin has the basic kitchen utensils, dishes etc...you need to bring bedding(sheets, pillow cases), there are pillows
and blankets. Buy groceries before getting to the Island - there are groceries available on Island as well for anything you forget.
